Fashiona at ArtFusion: Where Fashion meets Art

Last Friday night, Fashiona attended Celebrity Photographer Drexina Nelson's first annual Art Fusion: Where Fashion meets Art.

With Billie Holiday as her muse...she wore a pink flower in her hair and wore black and pink satin shoes.  If they were giving out a Miss Prissy award...she would have won one hands down.

Fashiona at Atlanta's The Adjustment Bureau Screening

Have you seen The Adjustment Bureau yet...if not please go and treat yourself to this slick urban thriller ASAP. It opened everywhere March 4, 2011.

Fashiona and Sis went to the Atlanta screening on February 16. Fashiona, who loves movies that require a little brain power, was pleasantly surprised with the on screen chemistry between Emily Blunt and Matt Damon.  The timeless struggle between fate and free will is played out in modern day New York.  Anthony Mackie delivered a convincing performance as an Adjuster with a soft spot for the seemingly doomed young couple. After the movie, Mr. Mackie  was ushered into the theater for an Q and A session.  The Juillard trained actor talked about his take on Hollywood and acting in general.  He recognizes that acting is his gift and he wants to use his God-given gift responsibly. He shared with the crowd that he mentors younger actors whenever he can.  Now that he is established in his career (after the huge success of Hurt Locker)...he is able to be very selective and takes the time of researching scripts before he signs onto a new project.

He left us with these two thoughts:  

Play your Role and Accept the responsibility of your actions and consequences.

Emerlyn and Ester Boutique: Where Class Meets Style

As the cliché says...money can buy you a lot of things but class isn't one of them.  Lucky for the style inclined in Atlanta, Ne-Yo's significant other Monyetta Shaw has class, money and an eye for fashion.


Last Friday, Fashiona was invited to a private media preview (Courtesy of the Garner Circle) of Emerlyn and Ester.

Ms. Shaw told her that Emerlyn and Ester were the name of her grandmothers and they had very differing but equally memorable senses of personal style.  She remembers them as 

being proper Southern Belles, wearing gloves and hats...very much ladies.

The dominant color in the shop is pink...what Ms. Shaw has coined "Jealousy". 


The feeling of true exclusivity is in the air. All under the same roof you can find lingerie from Hoff, jeans from Marc and Allison Jeans and rosaries from champion poker player turned jewelry designer Chris Akin's 13 Crown;  who is also donating a portion of his proceeds  to the Compound Foundation.


As soon as Fashiona walked into the Buckhead  establishment...she felt instantly transported to a couture shop in Milan or Paris.

MillerCoors presents the Inaugural T.A.P. Awards

What event can you possibly be at that combines beer, men, prestige and money....with a touch of class...well in Atlanta last week you would have been at the inaugural MillerCoors T.A.P. Awards.


VIPs, style makers, media and of course beer lovers congregated at the Mason Murer Fine Art Gallery for the tasteful gathering. T.A.P. stands for "Taste, Appreciation and Prestige".


Radio One personality Ebony Steele of the "Rickey Smiley Morning Show" was the hostess with the mostess.  She looked lovely in her animal print dress, accessorized with a long feather earring and chunky bracelets.  She shared with Fashiona that she went to Caché for her look.

Highlights of the night included signature beer cocktail recipes developed by mixologist Tasha Branch (Let's Make A Drink) exclusively for MillerCoors, amazing giveaways including box seats to Atlanta Hawks and Atlanta Falcons games, a  generous donation to 100 Black Men of Atlanta  and of course awards.

Sole Plus in conjunction with Converse presents Art + Sole + Life

Fashiona loves art, fashion and great causes and so of course she would support ART+SOLE+LIFE. 


Last week Friday October 22, The ART+SOLE+LIFE exhibit was created to highlight the non-profit work of SOLE PLUS.  SOLE PLUS is a non profit organization that was founded on the quote by Pablo Picasso, “Art washes away from the [sole] the dust of everyday life.”

Highlights of ART+SOLE+LIFE:

ASCAP Presents… Women Behind the Music Part 1

Tuesday  October, 12, Fashiona was delighted to attend  the Atlanta leg of the ASCAP presents: Women Behind the Music. Honorees included:

• Entertainment Attorney Sandra Brown
• Hannah Kang, General Manager of Grand Hustle Records.

Indeed these honorees mean business when they are representing clients, negotiating deals or navigating a still macho industry.  

All three honorees and moderator Rashan were beautifully dressed, well coiffed and showcasing a mean shoe game...all three honorees looked every bit of the power brokers they are...

Atlanta Fashion Week Part 2: Fashion GLAMATL

On Saturday at the end of Atlanta's Fashion Week, Fashiona was honored to be one of the Social Media Panel at Fashion GLAMATL  held at the Millennium Gate.

While Arkeedah and Miz D were live blogging on Facebook, Fashiona decided to tweet her experience.  Just like Fashion Night Out is about supporting the fashion community through shopping, Fashion GLAMATL was about highlightling the fashion talent in Atlanta...and shopping.

After  getting into her black wrap dress, Fashiona had her make-up done beautifully by  Melanie D. Kelly.

Fashiona then looked at all the vendors that were showcasing wares. 

There were so many beautiful things but a few things especially caught her eye.  P. Sherrod and Co. purses were showstopping and worth a little budget fudging...don't go tell Mr. Numbers that.  Their website is under works but do join their Facebook fan page to stay on top of their latest news.

Cartel Catering was tempting the fashionista and the fashionisto crowd with everything from strawberries to tiplia.  These men were gentlemen and of course great cooks.

Fashiona loved the Jersey Shore ( a delightful combination of shrimp and crab meat on a tasty cracker).

KingdomKlothes by Beth Borden-Goodman had their Swarovski® Austrian crystals shirts on display which are machine washable and tumble-dry safe. 

The highlight of Fashiona's night was actually meeting Nyssa Green with whom she had done a phone interview the week prior.

   The charity that received  the proceeds from the ticket sales was for  All Grown Up Inc...truly a Fashion with a Purpose event.

Atlanta overbooks....a lot

There is always something going on in Atlanta...unfortunately a lot of the events seem to be scheduled on the same night.  Fashiona's rule of thumb is RSVP to the first event that she is interested in and politely decline the rest... 

Last night  after work she rushed downtown to attend the Toast to Atlanta's Media at the lovely Georgian Terrace Hotel.

 She had to turn down the Georgia Entertainment Association Soiree held at the same time.

Tonight there was the launch  party for Princess Banton's (The Real Housewives of Atlanta Creator), entertainment company Loft 22,  the Seraphin Cognac event at Plush Boutique GA, Say Yes To The Dress Atlanta Premiere and most likely other well attended events...Fashiona was at work so couldn't attend any of them...

but she still  wonders why with all this social media can't the event planners  spread out some of these events a bit more...anyone?

BChic dazzles Atlanta

Fashiona was out last on the town last Tuesday and her second stop of the night was BChic in Buckhead.  In April, Fashiona and Sis went to the exclusive preview of the shoe boutique but Tuesday was the grand opening of the actual storefront on Piedmont.


Rashidah Ali, the owner, looked absolutely radiant as she gave interviews and mingled with Atlanta's fashionista and fashionisto crowd.  She was wearing a form fitting black dress and a pair of  blinged out Giuseppe Zanotti heels.

The boutique itself  looked part art gallery and  part European shoppe with the plush magenta couches and the shoe illustrations on the walls.  The coveted gift bags were also the same shade of pink.  It was jam packed so Fashiona wasn't able to take shots of the interior.

As much as Fashiona  enjoyed her time at BChic, she had to rush off to her third stop of the night...sadly especially for her male readers she missed Amber Rose's appearance...
