Things that Fashiona should have covered in 2010

Day 1 of the Atlanta snow storm was ohh so pretty...on Day 3 let's just say the novelty has worn off.  But sadly the snow now ice has not melted so Fashiona is stranded (highways are literally closed) at home...again.  With her new found free time...Fashiona has decided to write about some things that she couldn't quite get to in December.

First up...her favorite celeb bohemian Nicole Richie got married in a lovely Marchesa gown on Dec 11.  Such a major transformation from her wild days with Paris Hilton to the wife/mother/fashion designer that she has become!!Fashiona's favorite shot from the wedding dress was her embroidered sleeve with their names...beautifully done.

Secondly...Fashiona DID cover the ROYAL engagement of Kate Middleton and Prince William and wishes the couple well.  Now that the Queen is on board, the date set April 29, 2011, the venue agreed upon, the official engagement photos are taken and archived, the question that the fashion world is repeatedly asking...who is going to design her dress?  In Fashiona's opinion the design world has not been all "a-twitter" since the sketches were being drawn up for Mrs. Obama's inauguration gown.

Ms. Fabulous did a stellar job rounding up the some of the best illustrations  from the designers vying for the chance to dress the Princess-to-Be for what will be the arguably the biggest wedding of the decade.  As stunning as Kate is...she would look good in anything but Fashiona sees her in somewhat of a traditional gown like this Badgley Mischka gown.

Lastly but certainly not least....Black Swan. Fashiona loves Natalie Portman and applauds her stellar job in the ballet thriller and of course grants her best wishes on her recent engagement and bun in the oven.

Just asking though..how many Halloween costumes and amateur Black Swan like Swan Lake productions will be inspired by Rodarte's costumes from  these movie?

As the saying goes imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...

Nicole Richie:Queen Bohemia at the 2010 Oscars

Fashiona has been loving soon to be officially hitched Nicole Richie these days.  Motherhood and steady coupledom seemed to have mellowed her out just enough without robbing her of any of her style.   Last night she rocked Reem Acra in a way that we aren't used to seeing.  Nicole just looked stunning in the striped gown with the skirt and sleeves cut on the bias...what is not to like.  Loved, loved the cat eye eyeliner and the elegant pulled back hair.

Fashiona just has a teeny tiny suggestion for Joel.  We all know you are DJ and all but can't you just wait until you are  BEHIND  the turntables to don the sunglasses?...Just asking!

Nicole Richie's latest fashion venture: Winter Kate

Remember last week when the media was abuzz about Nicole Richie's engagement.  Fashiona thought (and apparently her fiance Joel Madden thought so too) Nicole had long been engaged to her long-time beau.  Well regardless of when the event actually happened,  Nicole revealed the ring on David Letterman's show Feb 15...yes the day after Valentine's Day.

What IS undisputed is that Hollywood's favorite wild child turned regining bohemian queen, has long been a trend setter and is really taking her fashion love to an ever increasing new level.  Her latest clothing line Winter Kate launched this month and is available on a pre-order basis on http://www.singer22.com/winterkate.html.

Fashiona's favorite trends for 2009

In planning out her week, Fashiona had an OMG moment...Christmas is next week and New Years the week after...she is sending out e-cards this weekend...no time for snail mail this year.

It also dawned on her that she only has 2 weeks to round out 2009.

So first up, Fashiona's favorite fashion trends of the year:
  • Statement necklaces are everywhere AND as long as they make a great (and not tacky) statement, Fashiona loves them.

  • Cuff bracelets, Fashiona typically wears bangles but she owns a few cuffs...her favorite is in her blog header. This year's cuffs are fabulous especially this one created by Gara Danielle featured in Halle Berry's perfume ad.

Jumpsuits: Fashiona really does love them.  She is still searching for one that is flattering to her shape. Now rompers that is other little story, pun intended.

  • Thigh-high boots, great when worn correctly and absolutely frightening when not.  Monica wears them well.

  • Sequins: Once regulated to costumes, prom and New Year's Eve celebration, this year sequins hit main street in a very tasteful way. Monica wears those well too.

Of course Fashiona had to add one that she hated, strongly disliked.  Leggings...Fashiona isn't a fan mostly because women seem to think that leggings are pants...umm not so much!!

Jean leggings or jeggings...worst industry term of all time...Fashiona prays that they won't make more appearances next year.
